Tell the Fire Minister - suicide prevention training for firefighters is urgent

The Government has recently announced it will introduce protected time for mandatory suicide prevention and trauma training for police officers. Now the same must be given to firefighters.

Figures show suicide-related callouts to Fire and Rescue Services have tripled in the last decade. However, firefighters often don’t have adequate training or wellbeing support to deal with these sorts of incidents. Now that Police Officers are being offered this training, it is only right that firefighters receive it too.

Will you sign this Open Letter to the Fire Minister? Let’s all sign to make the case that our firefighters need this training and support too, and show just how strongly the public feels about this.

We call on the Fire Minister to introduce mandatory suicide prevention training and workplace wellbeing support for firefighters, matching the offer recently given to police officers.
